| Disad is an organization focused on improving the social and economic well being of disadvantaged individuals primarily in the African continent through a series of programs. It aims to work primarily in Sierra Leone and the Gambia where subsidiary offices will be established with the main base of operations being in the UK. |
Its remit encompasses four programs as outlined in its five year development plan. The support, development, partnership and social programs.
|
The support program involves partnership, relief, advisory and education to complement the existing structures. |
The development arm of the program otherwise the commercial arm of Disad is focused on developing business infrastructures in Africa primarily to generate income to sustain its support and social programs. Whilst Disad’s aim is to set up these enterprises, it aims to work at the local level to pass on business expertise and skills to local business through training, coaching, mentoring and other different forms of motivation to improve enterprise. |
The partnership program aims at working with a variety of organizations within specific countries to accomplish specific goals/objectives around health, welfare and the well being of primary children and vulnerable people. The reliance on input from local, international al as well as NGO’s is vital to the success of this program arm. |
The final arm of Disad’s program is related to communication and is the social program. Disad’s aims to promote its aims and objectives through activities like awareness days, positive thinking seminars, health fayres, and themed events to name a few. |
